What an Exciting Night!

I just got home from a big media event / fundraiser for the film project I'm a part of! :w00t:

I've actually been dreading this event all week, because I knew that I was going to be stuck for hours with lots of people I didn't know in an upscale restaurant ballroom ….

…. and I knew that I was going to be interviewed about my part in the movie project by at least one reporter ….  TERRIFYING! :icongwahplz:

You may think that I'm quite outgoing based upon my Quest character and D.A. activity, but in truth, I'm quite shy and have to force myself to speak to people I'm not familiar with.  :icondragonshy2:

Getting to the Restaurant

Traffic was frightfully horrendous!  I hate travelling through the capital city of my state because it is an absolute parking lot during rush hour …

…. and any of you that have driven in stop and go traffic on 6 lane highways know how NERVE-WRACKING it can be!

So I found the restaurant; and even better, I found the last parking space OUTSIDE the restaurant so that I didn't have to pay extra to use their parking deck. :XD:

At the Event

When I got there, the ballroom was already half full of early-bird attendees getting autographs from the special guests.

I was just about to request a glass of Mr. Pibb when the film producer whisked me off to a private room where a CNN news crew had set up an area for interviewing everyone involved in the project.

I was the last one there! :eager:

Winding through the maze of lights and cables and battery packs, a heavyduty camera, etc., etc., a nice lady clipped a lapel microphone to my shirt and then I sat on a couch with a couple of others involved with the project, and on another couch sat the film producer and the man whose amazing story of survival we are trying to tell.

And then everything was a blur!

Most of the interview was directed toward the key figure of the movie, thankfully! :phew:

I was asked one question:  "How did you get involved in composing music?"

And I would love to tell you that I had a fantastic answer ….

…. but I can't remember WHAT I said!

I can't remember MOST of what was said in the interview, only the bright lights and the thoughts in my mind of:  "Don't fidget!  Don't fidget!  Smile!  Smile!  KEEP SMILING!"

I was sooooo glad when the interview was over.

WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE?! :omg:

After the stress of the interview, the rest of the evening felt like a piece of cake!

I FINALLY got my glass of Mr. Pibb and just sort of weaved through the room, greeting people, joining a conversation of interest here and there.  Everyone was really friendly, probably because we all shared the same vision of  helping the people of the war-torn country.

And talk about above my pay grade!  I got to speak with a man who is big in Sony music (he won the auction bid on my movie trailer soundtrack CD   I wonder if he'll even listen to it :? ), got some interesting writing and publishing tips from an author who is releasing her 29th mystery novel, spoke with the owner of a series of golf courses (I don't care about golf, but he was fun to talk with), almost spilled my second glass of Mr. Pibb on the heiress of a hotel chain ^^;, and chatted with a king …. yes, a real life KING!   :faint:

Talk about feeling out of place!

My poor Honda, too, looked so out of place to in the sea of Mercedes, Bentleys, Aston Martins, Jaguars, and a screaming yellow Lambo Murcielago.

And Bidders Fought over My Painting!

To help the fundraiser, I donated one of my oil paintings to the auction.

And that was great!   :D

On my fourth glass of Mr. Pibb, I reveled as two bidders fought each other to purchase my painting in an auction.  Final bid:  $1275! ….. of which I received  $0.

Oh well, it was for a good cause!  :aww:

I just wish I could sell my other paintings for prices like that!

Final Reflection!

Wow!   First getting to play three of my songs on piano at a venue a few weeks ago and now this event! ….. I'm just …. wow!    Wow!

I have no clue what the future holds for me … but I do know that I'm hungry!  In all of the adrenaline of the evening, I didn't eat anything!

Ah!  French Toast!  I shall dine on French Toast tonight, prepared by zhe awful chef Master Rohan!  :XD:
