Description

This is another picture from Hiccup's Adventure Quest to Dragon's Fire.

In it, my quest character named.... Master Rohan ... is dueling with the Leader of the Marauders, captain of a small army of soldiers assembled to strike fear into the free people of the region who also kidnapped Hiccup for his sword and treated him deplorably. :omfg:

Here is a copy of the journal post for further context if you're interested. (By the way, the story unfolds in journal entries I post almost daily.)

Day 83 - To Rescue Our Captain Part 12

:iconmasterrohan:Master Rohan (retelling the event by writing in Hiccup's journal):"As the devastated Marauder Compound burned and half of my team joined me in a final push against the remnant of the enemy forces, a sword suddenly sliced into the armor on my left upper arm.

"Pulling away quickly, I rounded to face my towering foe.

"Clothed in elaborate armor and a king's emerald-colored cloak, the Leader of the Marauders swung his sword repeatedly at me, fury raging in his eyes. This was the man that I had seen swaggering about camp like royalty. This was the man that treated his men with cruelty. This was the man that was responsible for hurting Hiccup!

"Our eyes locked in unflinching gazes, burned with hatred for what the other had done. For I had led a team that had crushed his army of mercenaries, had destroyed his fortress, and had retaken what he wanted more than anything else in the world: the Sword of Lodrian.

"With a scream of curses, he lashed out again at me with fierce sword attacks.

"As I blocked swing after mighty swing, I could feel myself being pushed backward by his brutal strength. In a dangerous move, I blocked one of his sword swings with my right vambrace and slid in close to strike a cutting blow to his lower torso with my sword. Spying a joint in his armor, I directed my sword to it and sliced into the Marauder Leader with a crescent arc.

"The Leader scrunched his face in pain, but then shot me a cold-blooded smile. As I had begun to recede to a safer distance, he predicted my movement and slid a dagger from its hiding place in the folds of his cloak into his free hand. With a pounding jab, he stuck the dagger into my side and withdrew it.

"Grimacing and partly gripping my wound, I pulled away from the hulking Marauder. I could see from the blood that was now issuing from the Marauder's armor that my strike had delivered an equally devastating blow; however, I did not see any weakening in the warrior's face. He looked as stalwart and powerful as ever.

"Brandishing defensive stances, both of us stood, unmoving, studying the other, looking for a weak point, awaiting the perfect moment to lunge.

"My opponent's armor was thick, heavily laden with plating, which I hoped would slow him enough for me to be just a little bit faster. But no matter how much faster I was, my sword would never pierce armor of that thickness, so I targeted the gaps where plates met.

"Much to my joy, the night sky was giving way to morning, and with a glint on my foe's sword, the first rays of the morning light peeked over the mountains that surrounded the valley we were in. And in that clear morning light, I caught a glimpse of an unusual variance in my enemy's sword: it was acutely chipped near its base.

"A sharp pain like broken glass being stuck into my side raced through my body. My wound was deeper than I wanted to believe. I had to act quickly. With one more rememberance of Hiccup being thrown to the ground as if he were just a pile of trash, I steeled my resolve and focus and dashed forward.

"His eyes poisoned with malice, the Leader of the Marauders met my charge with one of his own. Our swords readied to strike in the most damaging manner.

"We crashed into each other, steel against steel and remained locked in a battle of strength. Gritting my teeth as I pushed against the Marauder's might, our swords screeched as they grated against each other. I watched the weak point of his sword bow under the extreme pressure, but I could not break it.

"Suddenly, the Marauder kicked me back, breaking us free from the lock, and rushed forward, his sword swinging for my head. With a successful dodge, I then met his sword swings with my own. In a frenzied storm of clashing swords, we dueled fiercely, filling the air with sparks as we struck at each other.

"I concentrated several direct hits onto the weak point of his sword, until he finally understood my strategy. A fleeting expression of worry crossed his face, and he pulled his sword out of my attack range. Switching weapons, he lunged at me in wide swipes with the dagger that had already pierced my side.

"Staying mindful of my surroundings, I allowed him to get very close, stepping backward at the last possible moment to avoid the dagger's deadly path.

"And then I seized upon the hair's-breadth opening that I had been patiently awaiting.

"As the Marauder's dagger swept away in its arc of movement and the Leader abruptly altered his stance to bring down his sword onto my head, I swung my sword directly into the weak point on my enemy's sword with every last ounce of strength I could muster. With a resounding crack, my blade smashed through my adversary's sword and sent the shattered fragments spinning into the air.

"While the Marauder gaped in momentary disbelief, I swung back in the opposite direction, slicing deeply into the same place I had hit him before.

"Surrounded by his burning fortress and lifeless legions, the Leader of the Marauders, trembled and collapsed onto the ground...."

To Commentors: No Hiccup, no attack Marauder Leader.
